From what I have seen gender does not factor in unless a company is seeking govt contracts. Women are included in the "minorities" category where hiring criteria are concerned. Unfortunately welding is considered a mans job. I have trained, placed, and worked alongside women in the trade. Most have been excellent as they have to go above and beyond to prove themselves just to get employed. Some though, think they should get equal pay just because of their gender. During WWII there were many women in the trades. In todays market ability is the primary factor. If you are a woman then I would suggest you practice to become the best. Then when you are hired you can be a positive example for others.
