If someone is ever in danger because of a cheetah, it is best to get as far away from the beast as possible. If this is not possible, try and scare it away with something, like a rock or a stick. If all else fails, you're toast.

The very best approach is never letting yourself get into harm's way without adequate training and protection. What are you doing face-to-face with a cheetah?

The cheetah will run no more than 500 m (1,640 ft) at the tremendous speeds of 80 to 112 km/h (50 to 70 mph); very rarely do they run at these speeds as most chases are within 100 meters (330 ft). Otherwise they will quickly overheat.
