Intermolecular forces are very weak in gases. They are stronger in liquids, holding the molecules very close together, but still allowing motion around each other. They are strongest in solids, holding the molecules in a tight formation with only vibration about fixed positions.

How do forces between particles liquids compare to forces in the other states of matter?

the intermolecular forces/van der waals forces operate on an intermolecular scale giving you the 3 states of matter when these molecules are at different energy levels

The easiest way to distinguish between volcanic ash and volcanic dust particles is to compare their?

The easiest way to distinguish between volcanic ash and volcanic dust particles is to compare their diameter. Seismographs can be useful in predicting volcanic eruptions because they measure earthquake activity.

How do you compare and contrast subatomic particles?

They have different masses, electrical charge, dimensions, life time, spin etc.

Why does organic compound have low melting point?

They usually are long "chains" of hydrocarbon that only attracted to the weakest intermolecular bonds. Bonds between molecules are generally weaker so they tend to melt faster when compare to the melting point of stronger intermolecular bonded molecules.

What does compare and constract means?

Compare means to say what is alike between one or more things. Contrast is to say what is different between them.

well the solubility of any substance depnds on the forces acting between water molecules and solute particles compared to the forces acting between the solute particles

How does the total volume of gas particles compare to the volume of the space between the gas?

The amount of space that gas particles can take up is the size of the container, but the amount between them also is determined by the amount of space the gas takes up.
