Answer

I am making the assumption, based entirely on my own experience, that entering the 'oneness' from which everything springs, the un-utterable expression of life; The Tao, and FEELING its simplicity, without words, thus limitations, knowing its beauty, unconditional love and extreme intelligence, compels the realisation that: If I am essentially made up of this 'stuff', then so is my neighbour and everyone else I encounter. Their essential 'nature' is the same as mine, therefore I experience an equality in essence with them and I am able to perceive the goodness in them behind the facades and clothing of material life.

I would not fault the previous answer. But I would add that one thing Taoism teaches, which is stated in the Tao Te Ching, is that people should not be controlled, even by those who might have a "right" to do so. It is said that there is such a thing as an emperor people obey because they fear him for the things can do; better is an emperor they obey because they are grateful to for the things he gives them; better yet is an emperor they follow because they love him for his great accomplishments; but best of all is the emperor of who they say, "I don't know who he is, but look at this wonderful thing we did!"
