When some substances are subjected to mechanical stress this produces an electrical charge in them. If one of these same substances is subjected to an electrical charge it will undergo the same mechanical change in reverse. For more information please consider reading the wikipedia article about piezoelectricity.

Piezoelectricity is simply energy realeased when certain minerals, such as quartz are compressed or put under some kind of stress. The quartz will release voltage, usally along its lattices, or its edges. A example of this power is a digital quartz watch, where the quartz releases energy to help power the watch, while also keeping time. By Jacob brooks 8th grade Indian creek middle school

What is the difference between crystal and local oscillator?

oscillator frequency is different.crystal working piezo electric effect

What is the working principle of crystal microphone?

It is the same piezo electric effect, the vibrations caused by the sound waves are converted into corresponding electrical signals.

What are the applications of piezo transducers?

The applications of piezo transducers are Proxmity Sensing, Nondestructive Evaluation, Fluid Flow Movement, Fluid Level Detection, and Solid/Liquid Separation. And sounders.

Why piezo crystal oscillator used?

Piezo-electric quartz crystals are used to define the frequency in a crystal-controlled oscillator. Quartz is a hard material that tends to oscillate mechanically at a high frequency (up to about 20 MHz) when maintained by the maintaining amplifier. The signal produced is far more stable and predictable than an L-C oscillator, especially when the crystal is placed in a dedicated oven with a controlled temperature.

Explain the working of piezeoelectric oscillator?

A piezo-electric material is one who's physical dimensions (size) noticeably change when a current is passed through it. So if an AC (alternating current) is passed through a piezo-electric material, it itself alternates, or oscillates. This type of material is exploited in Electron Microscopes and Atomic Force Microscopes, which is how they are able to get such small, yet precise images.

it work on the piezo electric effect. when piezo electric ceramic is compressed, it produces voltage in terms of thousands. this voltage is causes an arc (spark) to produce.

How can piezoelectric materials generate electricity from human footsteps?

Just place a piezo electric crystal in your shoe then due to alternate change of your feet causes mechanical stress and strain .Inverse piezo electric effect states that when stress and strain is given along mechanical axes it creates electricity along electrical axes. Thus piezo electric crystal converts mechanical energy to electrical energy.
