Billions of neurons communicate with each other via trillions of pathways called 'synapses'. The pattern of electrical activity that this creates is what gives rise to everything we do and think and how we feel. However, we understand but a handful of these patterns and how they relate to various states of consciousness and mental tasks . The biggest challenge neuroscientists face is decoding what these patterns mean and then inventing ways of manipulating them for therapeutic purposes.

The brain works in many ways. One way it works is because we sleep, in which "charges our batteries" and another is learning, watching and seeing things. the brain also works by sending electrical impulses , for example when we see things it is because light hits our retina in the back of the eye when this happens it sends a message to our brains which the brain interprets as sight that's how we see

example: when you're at a table, sitting down and you want to stand up, you send a signal to your brain saying you want to stand up. your brain then sends a signal to your hands, telling them to put them on the table edge. then to your elbows, telling them to extend. then, your brain to the feet, telling them to keep still or else you will fall. then to your spine, saying it wants it to bend forward or else you couldn't stand up. finally, the knees, telling them to extend fully. suprisingly enough, this ENTIRE process takes less than 3 seconds!

Your brain works so you can do things. It sends signals to every part of your body that can do certain things. Like your arms for instance. Your brain sends signals to your arms so they can move. Or your legs, same thing. You absolutely need your brain, acedemically, physically, verbally, and emotionally.

The human brain is a lump of dull grey matter composed of individual cells. It is capable of sending and receiving "electrical" impulses up and down nuronal pathways. These impulses travel the nurons in search of their destinations. It is these impulses that make up the human MIND! The mind is the consious result of having a brain.

The brain does not think. It is the personality (the self or the soul) who think using the brain as an instrument of thought.
