I have had Asthma since I was a kid. at 36 I was diagnosed with copd chronic obstructive pulmonary disease one of the major components of this was bronchial asthma and asthmatic bronchitis. as for affecting your emotional and social parts, my emotional part took me 2 yrs to realize my life would never be the same. and social I can't go anywhere or do anything that I don't have to watch. a cold can send me to the emergency room. my asthma has basically made me control my own environment. I'm allergic to so much that sets it off is unreal. depending on how bad the asthma is and if you have Allergies that go with it my best suggestion would be to find the triggers and avoid them and above all consult your Doctor.

Hi there, Phsycally Asthma effects adolescents in the sense that their much more prone to viral infections and chest infections that someone who does not have Asthma. Also on the allergy side of things, Asthma can "flare up" and cause uncontrolled Asthma which will make the individual feel very weak, lethargic and exhausted. Especially after a Athma attack or a chest infection. Emotionally, uncontrollable Asthma can be difficult to "deal with" and to understand. It can upset some people more than others when they've just been diagnosed as Asthmatic, especially if they have a family history of severe Asthma or complications caused by Asthma. But in the long run, Asthma rarely causes any long term emotional effects. Socially, some young people are embarassed to take their inhalers or medication in public or in front of friends. This is quite common but is nothing to be ashamed or embarassed about as Asthma is a very common condition. If you have Asthma, its always a good idea to inform your friends incase you have a Asthma attack while in their company and explain to them what they need to do just incase you have a bad Asthma day. But in the long run, well controlled Asthma rarely causes any problems.

Asthma causes a shortage of oxygen in the body. This can affect your intellectual needs by making it harder for your brain to get the amount of oxygen it needs to function properly. It can cause you to struggle to think clearly.

It can not cause mental illness, but can cause a person to be nervous , scared or stressed that they will have an asthma attack or they're worried that they will not get enough air. See your Dr. about this, if you are having stress over this they can help you with that.

Many children with asthma spend a lot of time at home sick while other children are playing. If a child is not playing with other children, he or she is not learning how to get along with other children.

Diarrhea (from the Greek διάρροια meaning "flowing through"[2]), also spelled diarrhoea, is the condition of having three or more loose or liquid bowel movements per day.[3] It is a common cause of death in developing countries and the second most common cause of infant deaths worldwide. The loss of fluids through diarrhea can cause dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. In 2009 diarrhea was estimated to have caused 1.1 million deaths in people aged 5 and over[4] and 1.5 million deaths in children under the age of 5.[1] Oral rehydration salts and zinc tablets are the treatment of choice and have been estimated to have saved 50 million children in the past 25 years.[1]
