Healthy People have between 700-1500 CD4 cells, these cells are part of the Immune system and locate and coordinate the destruction of infections. HIV destroys these cells meaning it becomes harder for the body to locate and destroy infections, which leads to poorer health.

There are numerous social impacts of HIV and AIDS. One such is that it has forced certain religions who are know discourages of Birth Control to rethink this aspect of their ideology. In addition, it has, though not in a very ideal way, turned more attention to not only HIV and AIDS in Africa but also all of the other terrible events taking place (Genocide in Darfur, Mugabe). These are just some of many possible answers, however this website is a publication by the United Nations on the International Impact of AIDS and it appears to warrant further investigation.

HIV positive employees are not as productive as healthy employees as they dont have as much energy; HIV positive employees have frequent visits to the doctor which slows down production because they take alot of time off work; replacing employees who die from the disease is costly and time consuming as they need to be trainned;loyal consumers who know about the infected idividual may refrain from purchasing products from that particular business.
