Snowstorms can be on different scales. You can have Alberta clippers, Panhandle hooks, or Nor'Easters that affect entire regions. In addition, you can have lake effect snow squalls that affect a mesoscale area of only a few square miles. Larger scale snowstorms usually involve low pressure centers and moisture from an ocean. Lake Effect requires moist, unsettled, cold air flowing over relatively warm lake/sea water.
A blizzard starts when Strong northerly winds begin to push snow falls at relatively higher speeds that 10 MPH.
The air gets cold, normally at least 35 degrees, the water droplets in the clouds freeze, and once the cloud gets too full of the ice crystals, it drops to the ground as snow.
snow storms start when the air gets cold and the water droplets freeze to snow or cristals........normally the temperature is below 35 degrees
Snow starts when the temperature is low enough to crystalize the water vapor in the air.

Snow storms can be found any where. The temperature and precipitation just has to be low enough. 40 degrees and under are potential snow storm weather
snow storms can have a very bad impact they can cause blizards which can knock down houses just like a tornado
