First off, it depends on where you're getting the music from, what type of player you're using, and what file type the song is.
You can acquire music legally through anything from iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody, and a myriad of other choices.
Or you can acquire through BitTorrent, which the music industry claims is illegal, but due to the way files are distributed (every person on the network shares just a portion of the file, not the whole thing, therefore technically it's not a copyrighted work), they haven't been able to hold a candle to them in court like the original Napster, Gneutella network, etc.
Unless you have a player that can specifically handle the FLAC format (fairly popular on BitTorrent), don't bother downloading it. These devices are typically at a premium, so you'd know if you had one. Stick to mp3's.
If you're using an iPod, the only way I know of to get your music onto it is with iTunes, which is free. Simply create a playlist, drag and drop the songs you want onto the playlist, and sync it with your iPod.
I'm not sure about a Zune player, but considering how it's made by Microsoft, I'd imagine you use Windows Media Player to get songs from your PC onto it. Personally I'd recommend an iPod and iTunes. It's just simpler, even on a Windows-based PC like I have.

Yes, you can. All you'll have to do is put the music on your USB stick, and then plug it along with your MP3 player into any computer. You can then drag the music from the USB stick onto the MP3 player.
You can either use a memory card and direct transfer it from your PC to your plugged in MP3 player via USB port of your PC. Just copy the file from the folder where the music were saved and paste it in the your music folder (MP3 player folder). Second step is just drag the file to your music folder (MP3 folder). You can even use bluetooth technology but i prefered direct transfer from memory card or USB. if you got limewire or iTunes, you can simply synch the file with your MP3 player or iPod.
