I don't think a child needs to hear that kind of talk. If it gets bad enough to remove the children from her supervision, do it. But never speak negatively of her to them. It's rough enough for a kid to grow up without having to hear about stuff that they don't understand anyway.

Can the narcissist ever become himself and he is a narcissist and so is his mother he seems to look to her for acceptance can he change if she accepts him?

I don't think so. How can change occur in narcissist whose mother is a narcissist as well, even if she accepts him? The very sickness comes from that lack of emotional support given by the mother at the most crucial time, birth. My mother in law has damaged my husband so much that because he is a product of his environment, he had dished out his madness upon me and his children. Sadly, I am the one who had the mental breakdown and has suffered so much. Is there really help for a narcissist?

How do you tell a child that his or her mother is a thief?

Certain things such as a mother being a thief should be kept from the child if they are under the age of 12 because to that child that thief is simply their mother! A better way to approach it is not to say anything and if the mother has to serve time for stealing tell the child the mother had to go away for a rest, but will be back home. If the child is over 12 then you may not have any recourse but to tell them for fear others may know about it and that child hears it from someone else. In this case be kind about it and don't use the word 'thief.' Just tell them that 'your mom has a problem right now and she takes things that don't belong to her and she is getting help for it and will be coming home.' It is important a child does not feel abandoned by their mother whether they are a thief or not.
