This light will come on when after about 4500 miles since last oil change and a reset. It will stay on for a few seconds after you start the engine until you reach 5000 miles, in which it will stay on constantly until reset.
To reset the light, insert the key and turn to "ACC". Hold down the odometer button while turning the key to the "ON" position. Continue to hold the button and watch the odometer. Dashes in the odometer window will count down until there are no more dashes in the odometer window.

I have yet to do this on my 2005 Camry, but according to the Toyota Tech you must turn the key switch over (do not crank car) the check engine light will appear, now hold down the button on the odometer and at the same time turn the switch off than back on.
