This works on my A4 tdi (110bhp) but should work on all. ALTERNATIVELY: Press and hold Service button, switch on the ignition. When the service message appears on screen - press 0.0 (odometer reset). That should reset your 'service!' message.
I Think its a main dealer job only as they use a guided function with the Audi VAS computer to reset the service display
Hold in the wrench button on instrument cluster, and at the same time turn your key forward (without starting). While still holding the "wrench" button in, press the "0,0" button and hold until the "SERVICE!" notification clears (about 2-3 seconds). "Service!" Indicator Reset Procedure/Service Indicator Reset Complete!

What do the flashing words 'service inspection' mean on a 1998 Audi A4 1.9 tdi
2009 models can be reset using the centre display panel going to "car-settings" and just scrolling down, it will not alter the long life service, for that you need a scanning tool.
No.
Switch off the ignition and press-hold the service button (near the rev counter) and ensure the "service" message appears and wait for a second. Press the reset button again and that will bring the "service" message again or show the service due time remaining. The readings will reset after 5 or more seconds.
