the bulb that the car uses is a 9004 headlamp. Locate the wire behind the headlight in the engine compartment. unplug the wire from the bulb. With your hand you will feel a retainer ring that is about two inches in diameter. turn it about a quarter of a turn counter clockwise and it will come off in your hand. Pull the bulb out. Get the new bulb and reverse the process. It is pretty simple, the bulb will only fit one way and so will the wire that attaches to the bulb. Remember, it is very important that you do not touch the bulb(glass part). The oil from your skin will form a "hot-spot" and shorten the life of the bulb considerably.
Its held in with 4 star shaped screws... just disconnect the headlight bulbs, remove the screws and install the same way that you took that out with.

Unbolt and remove
Adjust the belt or replace it with a new one.
This is a big job. I suggest getting a manual on your car from AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM.
The 93 Acclaim has a serpentine belt. The tensioner below the alternator is what keeps the tension. If you have not tension I would replace the belt first and then check the tensioner.
how do you replace headlight bulb in a 2001 celica gts
Replace the speedometer cable. Better yet, replace the car. I had this problem in my 94 acclaim. Somehow it had gotten severed and no new part was needed. Take it to a mechanic you trust and all it will cost you is labor. No need to replace the car.
Honestly, just look in your User's Manual, if you can't find it: all you need to do is take out 2 really long screws that screw into the top of the headlight, and then slide the headlight forward onto the bumper, and the headlight pulls out from the back. This is one of the most insanely dumb engineered vehicles that I've seen. You have to take the wheel off to replace the battery?!?
The timing belt on a 1991 Plymouth Acclaim is replaced by removing the engine accessories, removing the timing cover, and taking pressure off the idler pulley. The belt can then be slipped off the sprockets, a new belt put in place, and the tension restored.
Take out the headlight is the easiest way!
