funny i actually just got done doing this a few min. ago on my 1998 Toyota Camry le{v6}i had to do it without any help so i had no idea what i was getting Into. So here is what you do.

.put your car on jack stands or use car ramps.{like the ramps better}

.apply Ebrake

.get your socket set out and you will need quite a long extension.

.drain all the oil from the motor by taking out the bolt under the oil pan ..sometimes its marked with a blue substance

.let all the oil drain out into your catch pan.

.thread the bolt back in once every last bit of oil is out.

.grab the socket that fits.{idk remember which size sorry.}

.loosen all 10 of the bolts connecting the outside rim of the oil pan to the the top portion.

.loosen the two nuts as well.

.take all ten bolts out and set them aside. Also take the nuts off all the way and set those aside.

.youll probably need a flat head screw driver and a hammer to break the seal of the silicone that's bonding the pan. Lightly tap it in the crease until you can pull it free.

.pull it out and get all the gunk of the rim of the pan and the top portion of which you just pulled it from. {I also stuffed some paper towels up in the top to keep the excess oil from dripping everywhere.} After you get the pan and all the connecting area of the pan and the top portion clean and clear of all debris and oil get ready to be done!

.take your silicone and squeeze a line all the way around the rim of the pan and around the bolt holes.Make sure the line of silicone does not have gaps. Make sure it is a continuous line. {I dabbed the silicone with my finger afterward to get a nice even spread on the rim.}

.take your new gasket and fit it onto the rim of the oil pan

.press firmly but not too much because it tends to slide out of place.

.once the gasket is where it needs to be with all the holes lined up make another continuous line of silicone on top of the gasket.Again be sure to cover the bolt holes adequetly.{Again i dabbed it to make it nice and even.}

.once you have both the pan ready and you've taken any paper towels out of the top portion you are ready to wipe the top portion one more really good time to free it from debris and oil that may cause there to be a leak in the future.

.put the oil pan back up to the connecting piece making sure the wholes align correctly.

.start with two bolts or even the two nuts and tighten it just so the pan wont fall.then thread all the other bolts on nice and snug.{be sure to keep going around the rim of the pan to make sure they all tighten nice and even.one being made tight may make another one seem loose.}

.once you have everything nice and tight and cleaned up put your 5 quarts of your preferred engine oil in on top of the engine block.close the cap back up.

.close your hood and pull off the car ramps slowly so you dont go over the side and break something else that you will have to fix later.

and thats it.easy as 1,2,3.well all the way to 20.dont worry by the time your done you will feel like doing it again just because you know you can do it!congratulations you just changed your oil pan gasket!
