How do you replace a brake light on the driver side in a 2003 Jeep Liberty?
There are 2 small screws reachable through the rear-gate hinge. These need to be removed then pull entire light housing striaght back.

I guess you mean the small map lights in front. Use a small screwdriver to gently pry the lens from the housing, be careful, they break easy, even the dealer techs break them.… I think the bulb may only be available at a dealer. No, the bulbs are available almost anywhere. It's just a 194 bulb.
Remove two screws located on the inner side tail light assembly w/ trunk open. Pull taillight assembly straight off; you may need to utilize a wedge to gently work the top and… bottom of assembly away from vehicle on outer side. Once removed, twist the top light cover counter clockwise and pull to access lightbulb. It is also best to not do this on a bright day as it is difficult to see whether or not the brake light is functioning properly.
Changing taillight assembly Jeep liberty I copied and pasted this from another blog.....it works perfectly!!!! For the drivers side taillight assembly remove the two screws o…n the side of taillight assembly. You need a special star screw driver (called "Torx", the come in different sizes). Don't strip the screws. If you do you will be in a world of hurt trying to remove these screws. You have to swing the tailgate open to see the screws. Once those screws are removed you have to pry the taillight assembly from the vehicle. Pry it straight out using a couple of large screw drivers as pry bars. Be careful not to scratch the paint. There are two plastic shafts that clip into the body. They run along the outside edge of the light assembly. Apply steady pressure with the pry until they come loose. It will take some force to break them free. Do not try to pull the assembly out with your hands from outside the vehicle as you will probably break the assembly.
Open the back door, take the 2 screws out and just pull the lense strait back. Thers like little pegs that snap it into place. It'll seem like it will break, but it won't. Jus…t pull it strait back and it'll just pop out!
Answer . There are two torx screws just inside the door jamb, with door open, remove those, then pull, with just a slight tug, to the outside(your right when standing behi…nd jeep) and pull out , it should pop free. There are two push-in plugs, kinda rivet style, with a bullet head on them and just kinda hold themselves in with the screws. Once it is free, twist the socket that is now visible counterclockwise, and pull bulb out, and replace.

\n. \n Answer \n. \n. \nSorry, the question should read "after replacing the gas cap"\n. \nAdded: It may not be the gas cap that is causing the fault. You could check… for other error codes. If your sure it was an error caused by a loose or faulty gas cap you may have to take your jeep in and have the error code cleared/reset, and they could check for other error codes at the same time.\n. \nAdded: I recently "reset" my check engine light by disconnecting the battery for about a half hour. Took a terminal connection off and went and watched a (tv) sitcom. The light was off when I reconnected and drove off.

Answer . two screws have to be removed with a star driver (T-15). Open the tailgate and remove the screws in good lighting. Next, carefully pry the brake light from the bo…dy with a small wedge. Be carefull not to scratch the paint. The caps are turned and pulled to remove the old light, the light bulb number # is (3157) and can be founf at most auto parts stores. Insert the new bulb and work backwards placing the brakelight assebly into two holes the body. Use gentle but firm pressure. Replace the screws and that should be it.
Answer . you just replace it like other cars, get an car enginner to fix it.
What is it you want to know about it?
This is an easy one. Remove the two screws that hold the taillight to the body. They are located just inside the tailgate. The taillight has two tabs the fit into slots opposi…te the screws, so you'll need to swing the assembly as if you're opening it like a door. The brake light is the top bulb on the back of the taillight. This is assuming that you weren't referring to the "3rd eye" brake light, which I haven't done.
Is this a "Yes or No" question or a "How-To" question? Proper grammar is essential, people!

What would cause the driver side brake light not to work on 2002 jeep liberty Right side works tail lights on left side work have replaced bulb have fire all the way and have checked fuses?
The most likely problem is one I have found on other make cars. The tail lights are truly assemblies on newer cars. Older cars had light bulb sockets which had to be removed… from inside the trunk to be re-lamped. Tail lights now are completely removed from the body to be re-lamped. Most tail lights need to have a wiring harness unplugged fro complete removal. The back panel of the tail light then must be disassembled in some manner to gain access to the bulbs. This panel is where the problem lies. In the bottom of each bulb socket are pins which make contact with the base of the bulb. These pins can become bent or corroded and cause the problem you describe. (just got done doing a similar repair to my daughter's Grand Am. Bent pins not making contact).
Go to Schucks, ask for the bulb, buy it and ask the guy to show you how to install it. They do that at Schucks. It's not too tough, but it's good to have someone show you.
