If your problem is that the door keeps opening and doesn't want to latch shut, then what I have been doing is carrying a piece of 3M scrubbing pad and use that to scuff up the contacts on the door and the door jam contacts. Then the door functions properly for another month or so.
There is a recall on the automatic sliding doors and it involves them not latching.

This is not an easily undertaken project. If the sliding door is one known more commonly as a 'Pocket door' (slides into wall) you can do yourself a favor and employ a contractor as it becomes necessary to sometimes remove and replace a section of drywall to gain access for repair. If this door is a sliding closet door you should consult the manufacturer or their web site.
I would suggest you invest in a repair manual. It cost around $12 at most auto parts stores, and will contain the info you need to complete this repair and many others. It will pay for itself with this one repair
Pick up the Haynes repair manual, it goes through the process step by step. I found it through Amazon.com. I am about to replace the one on my 2001 Pontiac Montana. Good Luck
I am no expert; but, according to my Montana repair manual, the blower motor resistor is located under the dash on the passenger side. It can be accessed from inside the car. It's located behind the fan motor
