How do you repair air suspension 1994 Lincoln Town Car suspension down leak?
I replaced the air suspension on my 1993 town car with one of Strutmasters air suspension conversion kits. My baby rides good again and they have a lifetime warranty. Hard to go wrong.

This information can be found in your owner's manual. Don't have one then get one. Dealer or salvage yard. You should have turn off the "Air Suspension" switch in the trunck before you jacked the car up. But, evidently you didn't, so get in the car (so there is weight on the drivers seat), start the car and run it for a couple minutes. The level contol computer should raise your level back to normal. It dumped air from your air springs when you left the Air Ride switch on - because the vehicle level sensor indicated the back was too high when the car was jacked up. Or it overinflated the air spring and ruptured it. There is only 1 height sensor for the rear and jacking up one side lowers the other. The height sensor is pretty close to the middle of the axle but may have indicated a low condtion when there was in fact a high condition and caused a leak.
You should check the air suspension switch, located on the passenger's side of the trunk. If the switch is off, the light will come on, also check the air suspension fuse. If both of these are OK, then the pump could possibly be going out.
Answer . \nTURN OFF SWITCH INSIDE TRUNK ON RIGHT SIDE
The compressor is located in a compartment in the left front wheel hub. To access it you have to remove the air cleaner and the washer fluid reservior.
Is there a manual air valve to inflate the rear air suspension on a 1994 Lincoln Town Car enough to drive to a repair shop?
look where the fuses are located on the passenger side, under the hood. you'll have to remove the cover and pull out the fuse for the air suspension ( you may need a screw driver to do this) replace the fuse and the car should raise back up long enough to get to the shop.
Answer . \nI own a 1994 Lincoln Town Car, Signature Series. My Cut-off switch for the suspension is on the passanger side wall of the trunk, about midway (horizontally), and about 3/4 of the way up. Mine was marked with the bright yellow warning sticker still, reminding me to throw that switch before jacking up the car, so it was easy to spot.
In the fuse box, located on the passenger side of the car under the hood. should be a 30amp fuse. Also there is the square black fuse (next to the small fuses) that controls the air suspension also.
I know on a 1998 model it is right next to the air filter housing.
The air pump (compressor) is located on the driver side fender underneath the air filter box.. Once you remove the air filter box, you will have to remove the compressor bolts from inside the wheel well.
It's under the winshield washer reservoir. I just replaced mine.. take about 10 minutes. You take off the air filter holder dealie ( a technical term) (3 nuts), then take off the windshield fluid reservoir (2 nuts), then remove the 3 nuts that hold in the compressor (they are on the bottom..) you get to them from under the car just in front of the wheel well. There's a little plastic cover under the washer fluid reservoir that you just pull off. It has those plastic thingies that old the door panels and roof panels on on some cars.
on the left side under the air filter box
Inside the trunk on the driver side. Up = suspension activated. Down = deactivated
no the towncars only have rear airbags all years
You DoNOT Repair!!!!. SERVICE IS MADE BY REPLACEMENT ONLY. DO NOT ATTEMPT REPAIR OF: CRASH SENSORS, AIR BAG SLIDING CONTACT, AIR BAG DIAGNOSTIC MONITOR, AIR BAG MODULES IF A PART IS REPLACED AND THE NEW PART DOES NOT CORRECT THE CONDITION, INSTALL THE ORIGINAL PART AND PERFORM THE DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE AGAIN.. WARNING: AIR BAG MODULES WITH DISCOLORED OR DAMAGED COVER DEPLOYMENT DOORS MUST BE REPLACED, NOT REPAINTED. NEVER PROBE THE CONNECTORS ON THE AIR BAGS. DOING SO MAY RESULT IN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT WHICH COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY. ALL COMPONENT REPLACEMENTS AND WIRING BEING SERVICED MUST BE MADE WITH THE POSITIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTED FOR A MINIMUM OF ONE MINUTE BEFORE SERVICE OR REPLACEMENT IS ATTEMPTED. THE INSTRUCTION "DISCONNECT" ALWAYS REFERS TO A CONNECTOR. NEVER DETACH A COMPONENT FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN INSTRUCTED TO "DISCONNECT."
I am not sure what you mean by "Relay". The air pump is in a compartment under the left front wheel well. Move the air filter and look under it. The trigger switch is in the middle behind the air bags and in front of the gas tank. This tells the system if the rear of the car is too high or too low. There is a computer box behind the carpeted liner between the on/off switch on the right side in the trunk and the exterior sheet metal.
\nYes the pump is electric.
Where is the air ride suspension compressor for a 1994 Lincoln Town Car located and how do you install it?
The pump is in a compartment below the air filter. I have heard that the pump usually goes out because the air bags or lines are leaking.
the 97 Lincoln has air bags instead of coils. the pump is under the windshield washer solvent in the front drive side fender. open the hood and remove the windshield washer solvent reservoir and you will find the pump under neath . its controlled by a ride leveler attached to the rear axle. close to center. there is also a sencer ,I'm not sure were its at. the sencer is around 200.00 . the pump is around 1200.00 . air bags should be more reasonable. good luck......
the air suspension stopped working on my 1994 lincoln
the air bag compressor is under the hood on the front driver side usually under the air filter box
It is very expensive to totally redo the air stuff in your suspension system, but I think you can switch the air stuff out for a suspension system that does not need a computer and stuff. I have heard of a company call Strutmasters. You should check them out! Strutmasters.com I have a 1998 Cadillac Deville, and I had a big problem with my cars suspension. I found out that Cadillac dealers want anywhere from $3000 to $4500 to fix it! I could not sink that much into my car. So I called Strutmasters.com and they fixed my Deville for around $800! They had less expensive options, but this one was a complete fix for my entire suspension! I am very happy with the outcome!
You need to hook up a scanner to frind the codes if this is what ur asking.
If you cannot find where to fill the air bags with air, follow the air line from each bag and see if you can find an air line connector,My thought is that it's somewhere near the airbag.
If anyone has a car with air ride and the system is failing, I can tell you how to fix it so you never have the problem again. Simply take the air bags out and install coil springs. Absolutely NO need to buy the conversion kits......simply purchase the original equipment coil springs. I bought the original equipment coil springs for my 97 Lincoln towncar cartier addition for $98 from Oreilly's or some other auto parts store and for me, I paid my local shop $80 to take out my air bags and install them. (well worth the $80 after I saw just what was involved) The ride height in the back is much better, the steering is better and the ride feels more stable. I should have done this years ago!!!! He then simply pulled the fuse for the air ride compressor under the hood and now all I have to do is cut the wire for the dash notification which is behind the glove box. Less than $200 for the complete job.....
