You need a special socket that has a cut out so you can slide it over the sensor. The socket can be bought or borrowed from the auto parts store. I believe I borrowed mine from Advance auto. They make you pay for it and return your money when you bring the socket back in one piece. However, yours is a bit rusted by now as was mine last year. Some heat goes along way here. Now your going to need a really long extension to go at it from the top. I can't remember if I needed a swivel or not.
Hope this helps.
No.
It is called an oxygen sensor socket.
It is on the back exhaust manifold.
It has both an up and a down stream oxygen sensor.
A 2001 Dodge Caravan doesn't have a knock sensor.
There is one on each side of the catalytic converter.
Top of the rear exhaust manifold.
There are two. One before and one after the catalytic converter.
There is a problem with the downstream oxygen sensor. I would replace it.
It is the sensor in the outlet of the catalytic converter.
The oxygen sensor is located on the upper portion of the exhaust manifold near the back bank of cylinders on your van. A special socket is required to remove it without damage. Go to the Related Link for more information.
It is screwed into the exhaust manifold behind the engine.
