When the great primeval power, refered to as Kundalini, has been risen up to at least the throat chakra or psychic centre, in her entirety then Meditation is reached. But not before this!!!

When 'she' is risen to the Christ or Brahma chakra then the yogi is in the deepest state of meditation possible on this Earth.

How is this to be achieved?

Practice the teachings of the Great Masters.

Study - discriminate - and then practice!

There are numerous exercises designed to enhance our inner potential from Mantra, Prayer, Contemplative exercises, pranayama to spiritual healing and Yoga.

Only through practice can we hope to achieve results.

As a good starting point I would advice studying Yoga and giving service to others as a means to attaining the much sought after state of Meditation.

In time and when the student is ready the teacher appears!!!

It's all about controlling your brain! It is actually entering a state of mind where we control the brain! Sit quietly for some time then concentrate bout whatever feel like; however, just think and concentrate only the particular thing or try being blank!

----

there are many different ways to meditate depending on where you are internally and what your beliefs are. in its simplest form, meditation is nothing more than sitting quietly, without any expectations. different faiths and philosophies use different tools to help you focus and release your mind: you can watch or count your breathing, recite mantras, scan your physical body, or perform other repetitive tasks which will keep your thinking mind occupied until it relaxes.

Here is a method for beginners:

  • Sit down on the floor with your legs crossed and you back straight and no distractions and just concentrate on your breathing. Do that for 30 minutes. When your mind thinks about other stuff, just bring your attention back to your breathing.
  • In order to meditate properly, a person needs to be free from distractions, alone with his thoughts, so to speak. Isaac, for example, went out walking alone in the early evening to meditate, possibly about his coming marriage to Rebekah.

When you practice again and again, your meditation becomes natural and you will be able to meditate without any effort. The ultimate aim of meditation is that you will realize that you are the ONE creation and everything is YOU.

There are two distinct kinds of meditation.

1. Conventional meditation

2. Original meditation

1. Conventional meditation:We do conventional meditation using the following steps

Step 1:

We keep repeating a mantra at regular intervals. The mantras should sound exactly the same.

Step 2:

We should make sure that the mantra keeps repeating on its own i.e. involuntarily

Step 3:

We make unwanted thoughts come at exactly the same time that the mantra comes.

Step 4:

we start feeling that our mind has become blank

In this stage the mantra and unwanted thoughts compete with each other to enter the conscious mind and neither of them succeed.

This produces,

1. False peace

2. False self-control

Peace and self-control we get in conventional meditation are false because greater the peace lesser would be the self-control.

Original meditation:This meditation is the gold standard of meditation and all other kinds of meditation are easier versions of this Step 1:We bring all the skeletal muscles of the body to isometric resting state which means 50% isometric contraction. We start feeling that the entire skeletal muscular system has become a single skeletal muscle called Unified Skeletal Muscle or USM. Step 2:We make the USM to isometrically contract or harden towards,

1. Middle of the body which is the navel

2. Head

3. Feet.

Step_3:">Step 3:We increase the isometric contraction of the USM to

1. 100%

2. 0%

Step 4:

We make the USM to contract in

1. One dimension Mode - from head to toe along the line of gravity

2. Two dimension Mode - as seven layers from back to front and front to back

3. Three dimension Mode - as seven concentric layers from skin to skeleton and back

4. 3D surround or god Mode - we make the USM contract at the skeletal and relax at infinite distances

Step 5:

We make each pair of muscles of facial expression to isometrically contract and feel its effect on the tone of the USM

Step 6:

We start feeling the muscle around the tongue called the Central Muscular System. We observe the effect on the USM

Step 7:

We make the muscles attached to the Hyoid bone above the Adams' apple and observe the effects on the USM

Step 8:

We isometrically divide the USM into seven segments and observe the effect of each on the USM.

These eight steps should give absolute control over our life and total freedom

The knowledge we acquire this way is called Inner Knowledge.

What shallower depth do you believe you are trapped in? Realize that most of the human problem is derived from those people who find satisfaction in having others believe they have achieved some greater merit.

A truly enlightened being will tell you there is no better place to go, or better ideas to know. Meditation is entirely about simply being there on the cushion, breathing... eventually one day to find youself... simply there.

Overcoming the illusion of deeper levels is part of pealing the onion.

Another answer

There is no easy way. What is required is relentless determination and practice. The key is to keep meditating. The process is simple. You are supposed to be focusing on your practice. What happens is that your mind will wander away. As soon as you notice that it has wandered, just bring it back to your focus point.

That's the essential structure of all meditation: notice that your mind is out of control and bring it back into control. Over and over and over again, with each breath that you take.

If you set as your goal to reach the deepest levels of meditation, it will never happen. Meditation is not about achieving anything; spiritual enlightenment is not something to be gained. Instead, meditation is about letting go of the task of achieving anything. If you are thinking about achieving a deeper state of meditation, you are just thinking and not meditating.

The idea is to practice letting go of incessant thinking (conceptualizing). When extraneous thoughts arise, just notice them, let them go, and return to your focus point.

That's all. Breath after breath. Hour after hour. Week after week. Year after year.

To become a buddha, let go of all thought of becoming a buddha.

true, the practice of meditation is releasing all thoughts and calming the mind, I certainly do reach different levels. As you sit in calm silence, focus on your breath, feeling the qi of heaven and earth. Now, always in control of your minds distractions, as well as always 'feeling' your breath, relax your face and head, and look through what is in front of your eyes. past the miriad of images, light, colors, geometery... and focus on pure emptyness. For myself, I usually 'see' a small speck of pure black (sometimes blue, green, red/orange) and 'pull' it towards myself. Now, this is where it takes the practice. The silghtest distraction, sound, thought can break that void, but if I get into it, it is of such a higher level than just relaxing meditation. read, all you can about Tao ti, thich nhat hahn, I ching, qi gong...just keep reading, :)

There are many different meditation techniques, but all of them have one thing in common: they all cause you to become more self-aware, more watchful of your thoughts, feelings and physical sensations.

Some techniques are still: for example, you sit and watch your breath. Others are active, asking you to move, dance, make sounds, etc.

Perhaps the best thing to do is look around at different techniques and find one which "feels right." Then go ahead and try it for a few weeks.

the best places to learn meditation are in hindu ashrams or buddhist temples.

youll never have any meaningfull results until a year or two into the practice. you will never have any real results if you simply poke about the net and try stuff on. this stuff is very serious.

meditation is not a religion so it doesnt matter your affiliation when you step into a meditation class. but keep in mind that it is possible to believe that you have followed the instructions for 15 years and not make any progress whatsoever. and it is so sad to hear such news. 15 years and you cant hold focus for more than 2 seconds?!

my first instruction was on focusing on a few hairs on my nostrils as i breathed. count each breath from 1 to 7 and then down again. i guarantee you that youll lose count after 3 seconds. the mind is jumpy. when you can count from 1 to 7 to 1 without losing count in ANY way, then do it without counting to get a feel of what its like to 'lose' the object. 5 - 10 minutes a day for 2 years and you might be ready for a visual object. +40 years and you might have the power to construct objects with thousands of parts in them, each one made by your brain and held for hours on end. but youll never reach that point without a very good and qualified teacher. alot of people just quit because its so hard to do. they have vague, at best, reasons to meditate. the most valid reasons are religious ones. meditation can make you a very powerful buddhist or hindu or christian.

This question has no single answer. Since the Buddha's death, a number of different ways to meditate have arisen and all are supposed to be grounded in his teaching. Remember that the Buddha did not write any books; he left no written instructions on what to do. Instead, his teachings were transmitted orally for at least two centuries before being written down. It is, then, not surprising that different schools of Buddhist thinking and practice arose.

There is, though, a core teaching that all the schools accepted. For a brief, outstanding introduction, which includes a description of how the Buddha himself taught meditation, see BASIC TEACHINGS OF THE BUDDHA by Glenn Wallis who compiled and translated the texts and provides a systematic guide to help the reader understand them (N.Y.: Modern Library, 2007).

Meditation starts when we try to silence the mind, when we try to switch off the five senses of the body. Therefore, we bring all our sense perceptions to rest as we try to contemplate, to mediate. The purpose is to reduce the MTR, the Mental Thought Rate, from fifty thoughts a minute to forty, to thirty, to twenty, to try to contemplate one thought. If we are able to stop the mind from its aggressive thinking then this meditation leads to what is known as consciousness or even mindfulness, where we become conscious that we are not this body, we are not even the mind, nor are we the ego - we are that power that is alive within, we are the experiencer, the witness, the observer. We are the life the Spirit, the Atman, the Soul. That is the deepest level of realization, the consciousness of the Truth
