There will be detailed instructions in the kit that you can follow. Best to have the trans out on the floor to make it easier, but it can be done in the car.
Keep everything as clean as possible and read the instructions carefully.
yes
maybe someone put a shift kit in the tranny.
You can purchase a shift kit that will increase the pressure.
I have used the kit in the turbo 350 and the 700R4 GM transmissions with good results.
You will have to get a new intake manifold that will fit a 350 with vortec heads. For the tranny to shift correctly including going into overdrive there is a vacuum kit you can get, but it will only work on some overdrive trannys. A company like Summit should be able to help you with the correct answers. If you can not get a kit for your tranny then you could always locate a 700R out of a earlier model truck.
my first question to you would be, did it ever hit 3rd gear with the shift kit? and then, who put the shift kit in? is it possible something could have been put back together wrong, or left out?
B and M shift kits are a good choice, But thay make all kinds of different shift kits and thay are all about the same.
depends on how much power and what you want as far as the ratios i have a 74 nova with a mildly built 350 and have 350 turbo trans with a shift kit wrks just fine for me
Purchase an aftermarket cooler and follow the instructions included with the kit.
Depending on what size turbo and the kit your going to do. yes standards are better but you can always have a shift kit added to your auto. trans. to make it better. Lemme know what size turbo and ill try and let you know.
Chances are good that third gear is burning out. Check the fluid, if it has alot of metal shavings in it, your tranny is just about finished. On a truck of this age it is easier(cheaper) to replace the tranny than to have the current one rebuilt. I replaced the tranny in my '81 High Sierra for $200 CDN including the filter kit and fluid. I did it myself so I did'nt pay labour, but most tranny shops could do it in about an hour and a half.
Depends on for what year/make/model/engine. If it is for a popular performance car, like a mustang or a 350 chevy. Summit racing, jegs, superchargeronline list supercharger for a lot of brands and turbo-kits.com list turbo kit for multiple brands and who manufactures the kit.
