You don't have a cherry and nothing pops - you mean tearing your hymen.

The hymen is tissue that surrounds the vaginal opening and it is flexible so it can stretch to accommodate penetration - women can use tampons, menstrual cups, fingers, sex toys, speculums, and even have full penis-to-vaginal intercourse without the hymen tearing. Typically the hymen will only tear if penetration is rough or forced so the hymen tears rather than slowly stretched.

The hymen cannot be torn from sports, this is a myth.

There is two answers here- First there is the physical "popping of the cherry" which means you break a thin lining inside of the vaginal cavity called the hymen. This can be broken with intercourse or when a women is being fingered, but for most women is broken before that if the use tampons during their periods. You usually are unable to feel this breaking but may experience a small amount of breakthrough bleeding.

Secondly there is the figurative "popping of the cherry" which is in a reference to a girl loosing a her virginity. So in turn the first time you have sex, that man has popped your cherry.
