The reed vibrates to make the sound. Your fingers placed on the keys control the pitch for the most part. Your throat and how you play also affect the sound.
The note that is being played on the saxophone is actually resonating in your voicebox.
The air goes from the mouthpiece through the neck into the saxophone body.
If you wish to learn how to play the saxophone it is highly recommended you get a saxophone teacher or get a good starting book.
There is also beginner music to get you started available online such as on andrewscottmusic.com
It's called a saxophone. Do you have an alto sax, a tenor sax, a soprano sax...... the list could go on.....
Why don't you just get a teacher and pay for lessons. I can't explain all of the fingering in just one answer and expect you to be a sax player in no time. There are embrasures to learn (mouth postions), how to hold the sax, which keys to press, and what things to start playing. Look it up on YouTube, they have stuff there. Hope this was helpful.
The easiest way is to play a jazz scale improvision. It's simply A, B flat, B, D, E, and I think F played in complete random order. I suk at sax, but I preformed a improve jazz solo in a concert, and I did fine.
Well, it is really not something you can just pick up and play. You most likely need lessons or at least a book that includes notes, also sheet music. you can get all of this on line or at a local music store. I have been playing the Tenor Saxophone for 3 years and love it to death. It is well worth the time and money. Of coarse the saxophone its self is not cheep...really consider if you want to play or not before you invest the thousands of dollars to get the instrument I would not recommend getting a used saxophone in less its been used one or two other times, in the end you will pay just as much money getting it fixed up. Hope I helped :)
Well what you have to do is just buy a book or if you go to a good school they will do saxophone lessons. They cost about £13,000 and also the cheapest is probably £300 which are still quite good but not as good. I have an alto sax which is smaller than a tennor and I really find the other one funny it looks like a Clarinet! ask more if you like. By Jess Bendell x
That's a pretty broad question. Are you talking about embechure, or fingerings, or how to read music. What do you need to know?

And here you will find a tutorial video on how to play the saxaphone
