you can play the jar files by transfer it in to nokia mobile phones
If you have Java Environment, you just double click that .jar and you have already ran it.
You can use the next command:
java -jar app.jar
Or if you are using Windows you can doubleclic in your jar file icon and that is all.
java -jar filename.jar
.jar files contain byte-code compiled to run on the Java Virtual Machine.
JAR stands for JAVA Archive File. You can archive a number of java class files into an archive and form a JAR. If you place the JAR in a particular location in the computer and then add the path to the JVM Class path, the JVM will be able to recognize references to classes that are present in the JAR.
If your dragging the file on top of the jar then thats because the jar is a file and not a folder. If you drag a file on top of another file your say that you want to run file B with file A. Get a zip Archive software like 7zip (google it) If your using a archive software and this is still happening the only think i can think to tell you is open the archive.
You double-click on it. You can indeed launch a jar file from the command line, with the following command: java -jar yourfile.jar As well as this you can assign "Jar Launcher" as the default app. to use when you double-click a jar file, as follows (I don't believe you need the developer tools installed for this): Click once on the .jar file in the Finder and then from the menubar in the Finder select File -> Get Info". Click on "Open with" and from the popup menu select "Other". A file browser window will open. In this window, go to the /System/Library/CoreServices folder and select 'Jar Launcher'. Then make sure the "Always Open With" checkbox is checked and then click Add. Then click the "Change all" button so that any jar file will be opened automatically. Finally, close the Info window and now when you double-click any of your jar files they should run automatically.
this conversion is not possible because sis is a symbian file(another operating system that is mainly used by nokia) & jar is java file both are not same

You must have a java runtime environment (JRE) installed to run a jar file .. if it is not a jar ( or it is a class ), you should have the java development kit or JDK .. if the file you are running is a jar file, just double click it. if the file you are running is a class file ex. "MainProg.class" then go to the bin directory, and open command prompt and change to that directory. then java MainProg.class it should run ..
I believe a jar takes up less memory but requires java to run exe and jar (although a jar is similar to a zip file) can NOT be run on Mac software.

Jar file is Java AR-chive Java Archive File, commonly referred to as a Jar File is nothing more than a compressed archive file.
So you mean that you want to run a jar file that requires a seperate program but you don't have that program? If so, you need to get the correct software. If it tells you for a program and you don't have it, you need to get it.
The file extension is the two, three, or more letter code that is after the period in a computer file name. It is used to "tell" the computer what type of file it is and what program on your computer will "open" or "run" it.
JAR files are basically ZIP files, so you can open them by any software that can work with ZIP files. That includes Windows XP default file-system browser, WinZip, etc. To actually run the JAR archive, you need to have JAVA runtime environment installed on your computer.
You can change the file extension from .txt to .jar but .jar is a java format and is not normally used to wrap text.
