make sure the blend doors are working properly. check the heater core for blockage or debris around it. check thermostat, and have the coolant checked to see if it is still good.
Possibly a bad heater core. Could be simple stuff though. Have you checked your coolant level? Sometimes those "doors" in the dashboard for the heat and a/c are not opening and closing properly.
No. one heater core, two airflow control doors. Called blend doors, very prone to breaking.
it may be a number of things.... the air blend doors get brittle and break then they fall and lay over the heater core blocking the hot air .... or the air blend door actuator may have broken which does not allow the blend doors to switch from hot to cold ..or cold to hot ..... or the heater core itself cold have gone bad
On a 1982 there are two doors, one in the heater outlet and another behind the glove box. May be the same for 1988.
The problem is the blend door, not the heater core. Any mechanic worth anything should have checked and replaced the blend doors while it was apart to replace the heater core. Check heatertreater.net for diagnostic information and some real help.
Air flows through the heater core to warm it up. Assuming the heater core is circulating water from the radiator, the problem is usually with the blend doors. These doors regulate air flow through the heater core and when they break, they usually block the input into the heater core and kill the heat. Check heatertreater.net for diagnostic information and an inexpensive fix.
Depending on the year of the Buick Century it may have vacuum controlled heater blend doors. These use engine vacuum to move the doors that control where the heat is directed. If one of the vacuum lines has a hole in it, it would cause the engine to run unevenly due to the vacuum leak. Check the vacuum lines and listen for air leaks. You can also try spraying the vacuum lines with *small amounts* of carb cleaner, if the engine idle goes up when you spray a particular spot there is a vacuum leak there.
This sounds like a temperature blend door problem - with the door stuck in the heat position. See "Related Questions" below for information on Taurus/Sable blend door actuator motors and blend doors
Check the following items............... 1. A/C heater controller. 2. A/C heater controller doors.
Low coolant?Bad Thermostat?System "airbound"Defective heater control cable?Plugged heater core? The most common reason is a broken blend door in the plenum box. Check the video on YouTube for information on diagnosing and repairing the system. Search "explorer heater" to find the video. It is either a broken blend door, or a broken actuator motor. Typically to fix this problem, a mechanic will disassemble the entire dash, and replace the plenum box. Unfortunately this is an expensive fix because it is labor and parts intensive. There is a DIY solution called heatertreater. They provide instructions on how to access the blend door by removing the glove box, and replacing the blend door without removing the dash and plenum assembly. Broken blend doors are a common problem among Ford explorers, and most heating and A/C issues in late model Ford explorers are directly caused by a malfunctioning blend door.Read more: 2004%20ford%20explorer%20heater%20problems%20clikcing%20noiseThat is why Aluminum blend doors, recirculation doors and modes doors should be preferred over plastic or steel blend doors.Read more: 2000_ford_explorer_heater_fan_motor_makes_a_noise_like_a_leaf_is_in_it
