think of the thing you are trying to calculate. Then think of a way that you may find the area or whatever you need to find. then think if you know a way that can apply there.

The best way to memorize formulas is repetition. Keep writing them down or saying them aloud until you can remember them. A study deck is a great way to do this -- see the related question to learn how to do this.

I found it best to look at the element, write it down and make funny little rhyming words! Or odd associations with other things you know. It always helps me when I need to memorize or remember something.

Like GOLD is Au- Hey you got any gold?

Like SODIUM is Na-Na stand for none and sodium think of salt...so no salt please

Like IRON is Fe- Feeble begins with Fe- so think you are feeble w/o Iron

or you can use words that sound the same or have the same begining for example using the words above

Gold ->Auction (Au)

Sodium is Not Available (or Na)

Iron cost a Fee (Fe)

once you are good at remembering them, you can start to use rhyming such as He,Be,Ne,B,N,li, C,O,H,F for the first 10 elements, i will leave you to find out what they are.

Sweet Lyrics

I would make a phrase up for example to remember the alkali metals symbols in group one.. i would say:

Linda.....Lithium

Nattered....Sodium

killed.........Potassium

Ruby....Rubidium

Causing....Caesium

Fire.........Francium

A u get back here with my gold

Silver Ain't gold

C u later copper!

Happy gilmore drives a mecury

Friend eggs in an iron skillet

Plumber's butt works with lead

No Sin in tin

W is the shape toungston makes in the light bulb

First twenty elements in the Periodic Table:

Hi Hello Little Beryll Brown Cracking Nuts On Friday. Nellie's Naughty Magpie Always Sings Pop Songs Clearly After Killing Cathy

(H He Li Be B C N O F Ne Na Mg Al Si P S Cl Ar K Ca.)

-------

Here are two mnemonics I learned at school some years ago for rows two and three of the periodic table. Most of the words have the same first two letters as the element's symbol, or sound something like the element's name. I've bolded the element symbols in each word.

Row 2: Little Betty Boop Cries Nightly Over Freddie (Fl) Newman

Row 3: Naughty Margaret Always Sings Poor Songs in Clear Alto (Ar)

If you can remember H and He for the first row plus these two mnemonics, you can easily write out the first three rows of the table during an exam as a reference - enough for most high school chemistry.

Feel free to use any of the above if they work for you (personally, I find that most mnemonics that rely on names are more trouble than they're worth, unless the name is either the actual word or something really closely related to it, like "Violet" in the resistor color code mnemonic, because you're just trading remembering an arbitrary actual thing for remembering an arbitrary name, and then remembering how it relates to the thing you're actually trying to remember... for this reason, I'd say that most of the above are not very good).

The best way is to divide them into the groups that they're already divided into, and memorize each one. Try making silly sentences or rhymes out of the first two letters (which are the abbreviations for the elements!).

For example:

Group 3: Alkali Metals.

Li - Listen

Na - Nathan,

K - Kicking

Rb - Roger Brown's

Cs - Cat Seems

Fr - Freakish!

What skills do you need to be a medical doctor?

You will need a strong background in science: you will be studying for a medical degree, and the courses will include anatomy, physiology, psychology, and specific courses about the internal workings of the human body. You will need to learn techniques for diagnosing various diseases, and what certain symptoms mean. You will need to know how to do medical research, so that you can keep up with new findings that may be useful to your area of expertise. You will need to project a confident but calming manner, so that you can put a patient at ease (many patients are scared when they see a doctor). You will need to listen carefully to the patient, so that you can understand his or her symptoms: this will be necessary in order to diagnose, or to identify possible reasons why the patient is not feeling well. Sometimes, a good doctor is like a detective-- gathering information, knowing what tests to order, doing research, and figuring out the problem. You will also need to possess manual dexterity, since you may be performing surgery or handling medical equipment or doing a physical exam. Some doctors are specialists, and they must acquire a thorough knowledge of the particular area in which they want to practice: gynecology, oncology, internal medicine, surgery, etc. Above all, a doctor must have a love of the medical field and a dedication to helping patients.
