guinea pigs are quite alert creatures so they do not learn to trust you very quickly, even if it trusts you it could take one wrong move to shatter it. my guinea pig and me get along fairly well but he is still causios if i make a sudden jump or somthing even though we've had him for over 1 year. my advice is to let him relax when he wants to and try some hand feeding , hand feeding guinea pigs shows them that you mean them no harm and just trying to be their friend, treat it like a human. hope I've helped.
In its hutch your guinea pig should always, always have access to plenty of hay - they eat this (it helps their digestion) but they also like to play and hide in it. Make sure there is a covering on the floor of the hutch, like sawdust or wood pellets. When handling the guinea pig, pick it up with one hand under its bottom, the other under its shoulders so you don't hurt it. Sit down when you cuddle your piggie and stroke and talk to it lots. They like to feel secure. Do this regularly, and it will soon know and trust you and will be comfortable in your company. Most of all, guinea pigs love company - and this is what makes them feel happy. If you have an outdoor piggie, bring it inside or into a garage or shed in cold weather.
Try lightly scratching your guinea pig's back, if it purrs that usually means that it likes you. Message me if you have any more guinea pig questions!! :)
it will go and try to hear yer heartbeat. because it finds a maternal safety with you.
The best way to get a new guinea pig used to being around you, I've found, Is to sit in a closed room, somewhere there is nothing for them to escape under. Sit on the floor with your guinea pig and offer it some leafed vegetables from your hand. Do this for 10-15 minutes everyday and eventually you will have guinea pigs that will be pleased to be handeled and like my guinea pigs, they will even run to the cage door waiting to come out!
Give them space. I have a guinea pig named Polly and the first week or two, she was nervous but then i started giving her love and spending time with her and that eventually worked. Never ignore them. Make your guinea pig happy!
HOPE THIS HELPED!!!!!!!
You may not get them to love you. These animals are funny that way.You just need to handle them a lot. This is a good way to get them used to you. Pet them a lot and talk to them. Hand feed them a lot and this will bring trust.
Give your pig their favorite veg and fruit. If your pigs like being combed or taken out, take them out. Make obsticle courses. Make hide-outs for your guinea pigs. Give it its favorite toys. Guinea pigs love being around people, unlike other rodents. If your pigs are purring that means they are VERY HAPPY and they love you!
play with them all the time and feed them carrots and cellary they mostly like carrots but u deafanitly need 2 guinea pigs and if you dont want 2 you have to play with yours alot because i got mine from one of my moms friends and she had one that was friends with a rabbit and when the rabbit got sick nobody was able to play with it so it died because it was lone ley and dipressed like i have 2 because im so busy but i still find time to play with them
love it :P
If you want it to love you, you have to love it first :)
you can make your guinea pig friendly by picking it up every day at least once and pet it lots.

Guinea pig. Bunnies are cute but fragile-ask anyone.
i think a guinea pig's hearing is better than a hamster's because i tried to sneak up to my guinea pig but when i saw my guinea pig it was staring straight at me like it knew i was there already. i once owned a hamster and they did not notice me very often as much as guinea pigs. ;D
tell her that the guinea pig cant fit and needs a bigger and better house

At a local pet store, or, a much better option, at a guinea pig rescue.
yes, guinea pigs are social animals and live in small herds in the wild. A guinea pig must have company in order for it to be entirely happy- without another guinea pig to talk to and exchange pleasantries with, the guinea pig will become withdrawn and depressed.
Its a guinea pig!
Guinea pig is a social animal, and is always better with a cagemate.
