Click on it to select it. Then you can drag the little handles around the edges to make it smaller. You can also change the text size through the the Font option, which you can get by right clicking on the legend.
Using a chart wizard.
First create your data and chart in Excel. Then copy the chart and do a Paste Link with it into the Word document. Changing any values in the Excel document that are used in the chart, will also change the one in Word. So the important thing is the Paste Link.
Select the values that you want to chart. Then on the ribbon go to the Insert tab and you can choose a line chart from there to create it.
It allows you to make charts or graphs. You will find it in the Charts section of the Insert Ribbon in Excel 2007.
When you make your pie chart in Excel, set the parameters of the chart to display percent for each data item (slice of the pie).
You can make a professional comparison chart by using computer software such as Microsoft Excel to create the charts. Alternatively, you can draw one out by hand.
After you make your chart in Excel, just click and drag the slice you want to separate.

If you have the data, select it and start the chart wizard. Choose the XY Scatter chart, and pick the variation with smooth lines.
This is much easier to do in MS Powerpoint than in Excel. Powerpoint actually has an organizational chart as one of its templates.
Use headings to indicate what they chart is about. Include an overall chart title and ones on the x axis and y axis. Make sure the headings are clear. Use colours to enhance the chart by making things clear so that things can be seen. You can thicken lines on line charts so that they are clearer. Make sure the legend is clear. You might want to add some fancy effects, like 3-D styles, though it doesn't always enhance the chart. You have to make that decision based on the chart. If there are a lot of elements on it, they may be harder to see.
First you need to have the correct kind of data that is appropriate for the chart. Then you select it. You can then start the chart wizard and choose the chart you want. You can also select the data and then press the F11 key.
