Creating real maple syrup is difficult to do at home but creating a nice, fresh fruit one is super easy and delicious. Simply, stewing your favorite fruits with some sugar and vanilla creates the perfect sauce to pour on top of French toast, pancakes and even ice cream!
First, decide what type of fruit you would like to use. All different types of berries is a great one. So, use about ½ cup of a frozen berry (like raspberries) and 1 cup of fresh berries (like strawberries). Place in a sauce pan. Next, pour ½ cup of granulated sugar, ¼ cup water and 2 tablespoons all natural raspberry jam on top. Bring ingredients to a boil, stirring occasionally. Berries should be slightly softened, about 5-8 minutes. Sauce can then be blended in the food processor for a smooth consistency (but this step is optional). Serve warm.
