First get a decent 3d gamemaking software. the one i use is reality factory here is a good tutorial on how to use it, and it should include a link to the download of reality factory: www.stormthecastle.com/.../reality-factory/reality-factory1.htm .. After this part, you need a team. gather a team of artists, writers, (maybe programmers), and just people who you know that will help, and put in a lot of dedication and time. You can buy a 3D game engine for a few $$$ (game maker). Or you can make simple games with Python and vPython.

If you want to make anything that will look professional you are in a jam. You pretty much need to learn C++ or C# to make pro 3D games.

There are two main ways the simple one is to make it directly in Blender with the internal game engine and the second one is to make the models and animations in Blender but program the game directly with a programing language like C/C++

The benefits of the Blender game engine (BGE) are its integration with the modeler, ease of use and how fast you can develop relatively complex games. The down side to it is that, as Blender is open source, you can't encrypt your game files; you have to either provide the files along the player or you can pack the files with the player, but get the obligation to give away the files to anyone who ask for the source.

There's a great introduction to the process of actually making the game in BlenderCookie.com, looking for "game engine" in the tutorials menu. Another source of information is the "Blender Game Kit" book and the new and updated "Blender Game Kit 2".

While looking for information one should not think in terms of "how to do a game" but more in the steps required for it, like how to model characters, environments, game props; how to make the materials, textures, lighting; how to rig and animate; how to import the characters/envs/props to a main program; how to program in C/C++, Python; how to use APIs like Direct3D or OpenGL.
