first of all NEVER train anything with treats because when you are away from home or wherever you wont be able to give him/her treats and when you dont they will be confused and it will just go downhill from there. anyway start with something simple like sit, lie down , or shake then work your way up. but when your GSD-German Shepherd Dog- does it right simply say one or all of the following- good dog, good boy, good girl, good_____-what ever your GSDs name is-, or even yay you did it! dont forget to pet your dog when you say those things. ITS A SIMPLE PROCEDURE CALLED PRAISING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
German Shepard's are loyal and have a huge need to please! Making this versatile dog one of the easiest dogs to train! A lazy owner who abuses his dogs intelligence will have a dangerous and unpleasing dog. A responsible strong owner will raise a smart Strong and loyal dog. so you see the dogs personality and traits depend on the owner him or herself
Socialize them from a young age to different people, places, noises, sights...everything! then they won't be scared of things they have never seen before.
I just got a German Shepherd puppy and that's what we have been doing, and he is not scared of the hairdryer or anything. It has to be done from a young age though, to be the most successful. Read up on socializing dogs- theres lots out here on the internet! Im not an expert, Im just telling you what Ive read.
For most puppies treats make everything good! If your puppy is afraid of people, have strangers get down low, approach from the side (none threatening) and offer a treat. When enough people have done this, they will forget about their fear and be excited about a treat!
You should never train any dog to attack people. German Shepherds are excellent all round dogs and can be trained to be protection dogs. One of the best programs for this is the Schutzhund training. Considerable research should be done before choosing a trainer for your working dog.
One trick at a time with treats, don`t try several tricks at once and always first start with sit stay and come when called you don`t want them running from you if not on a leash
Get it around other dogs and it will get used to them
