How do you use a Graco RTX 1500 paint sprayer?

Put pick up tube in material. Flip black plastic drain valve handle down to open position. Turn sprayer on and run until material flow from smaller prime hose. Turn off sprayer, set pressure with pressure control knob, clock for pres. up. Flip drain valve handle back up to closed position. Turn machine on, let it build pres until motor stops. Fire away. If paint flow suddenly stops at the gun, turn spray tip handle half turn count clock, trigger gun to clear tip clog, reverse back to spray position and continue.

Usually, the only parts on a modern airless paint sprayer that require lubrication are lubricated with heavy grease and rarely need repacking. Some sprayers have a zerk fitting on paint pump's piston's connecting rod to allow for greasing, but this is rare.

On piston type paint sprayers, throat seal liquid should be added around the paint pump, where the piston enters the cylinder whenever the sprayer is used. There is usually a packing nut that the piston rod passes through that, in addition to allowing adjustment of the pump packings, also has a well that holds TSL or throat seal liquid which is used, not to lubricate, but to keep paint that weeps past the packings from drying on the rod overnight, then damaging the packings the next time the machine is started.

You can use any airless paint sprayer by following the instructions that were given to you by the person that trained you to use it. If they did not show you how to use it where you purchased or rented it, then take it back and have them show you if at all possible.

If this isn't possible, keep in mind that airless sprayers are very dangerous pieces of equipment, they can cause injection wounds that can require amputation to treat. They should only be used by competent individuals who are sure how to use them prior to starting the machine.

Spray painting is a danger to your health and that of people around you. Using a compressed air paint sprayer properly and safely is a skill which should be learned from a qualified person. At least go to a library and read some instruction books.
