Well if its set up like most other engines it will have a tension pully that keeps the pully tight. they arent hooked up to power anything. theyre just bolted on so take it off and the pully will go slack. if the engine has a serpentine belt you may need to remove two. just remember to put them back on.

There is a tensioning pulley that you can move to loosen the belt. Look at the belt diagram in the engine compartment to locate it.
The Alternator is mounted solidly to the engine. It does not adjust. You have to use a wrench to pry back the Serpentine Belt Tensioner ,, remove the belt ,, and then remove all of the bolts that hold the Alternator on.
