  • You need to take the risk of sitting down and communicating with this individual and perhaps the problem is the fact that both of you disagree on any punishment given to the children when they are unruly and both of you need to set rules for the children and stick to them. Simple rules for disobedient children is being 'grounded'; not watching TV; not seeing friends, etc. If this individual is putting you down by calling you names; telling you that you are not a good mother; not a good cook; ugly; fat or no other man would want you then this is verbal abuse and children should not be brought up in such an environment. If this individual takes no part in raising the children; yells and screams for you to control them if they make too much noise or the two year old cries; beats the older children with a belt or other object; slaps them across the face; pushes or punches then this is physical abuse and not acceptable behavior. If this is the case you need to take yourself and your children out of this environment by getting rid of this verbally abusive partner.
