Your face looks different,

It will be difficult for you to close your mouth, but if you manage it you will hear/feel a click. I am not a doctor but if you think it is broken you need to go to a doctor right away the most common ways to tell is if your finger is swolen,you cant bend it without extreme pain, and discoloration(colors like purple,blue,or black)

You need to get an Mri. That is the only thing that can detect Ligaments and see them. You will need to find a specialist also that deals with hand injuries so he can refer you to get an Mri.

If your finger hurts and is swollen, you should go to the ER to have it x-rayed to see if it is broken. Unless the bone is sticking out of the skin, you can't tell by just looking.
