Traditional 4 pin plugs have wires for the left and right turn signals, one for running lights, and one that is a ground. The issue is that there are people like me, who want brake lights to work also. The extra red wire is usually attached to the jeeps brake light feed.
Go to the back drivers side of your Jeep. Take out the spare. Remove the 2 bolts from the left wall that hold on the spare tire bracket. Remove the rest of the screws from the left side plastic panel and remove the panel. Warning, the seat belt goes through the panel, so just move it aside without breaking it. The wiring junction is on the left behing and avove the speaker. A smart person purchases the wiring harnss that plugs right into the system without cutting or splicing. 32$ at JCWhitney. If you already have on though, you will need a wire tester {voltometer} to check the wires to locate your brakes, running lights, etc.one good way to do that is to remove the three bolts from the taillight, pull it forward, and look at the colors of the wires going into your taillights, brakelights, and blinkers. Locate them inside the wiring harness inside the jeep, and connect. For connections, I highly recommend using the alligator clamp in-line connectors that you don't have to cut any wires to use. They cost about 3 bucks for a package at the local auto parts place. Good luck.
you have to remove the back driver trim in the back of the jeep..........you will find a green plug, the aftermarket wiring will plug into that.......................good luck
