Assuming you're doing this for someone else:


1) pull the plastic slide down so that the cannula will definitely be large enough to fit the patient


2) hold the cannula with both hands so that the prongs are facing away from you and curving down

3) put the prongs into the patient's nostrils


4) pull the tubes over and behind both of the patient's ears at the same time


5) adjust the plastic slide back up so that the cannula isn't tight enough to bother the patient yet the cannula won't slide off.

Place the nasal prongs in both nares, loop the remainder around both ears and tighten under the chin with the slide.
