Okay, first of all there are two kinds of messages on Twitter - public and direct.

A public message is able to be seen by other people, and is just a "tweet" directed at another person. To send a public direct message, before your tweet write "@" + the username of the person you want to talk to e.g. "@SkunkMunchies Stop plugging yourself"

A private/direct message is where nobody but yourself and the person you want to talk to can see what you have written. There are two ways to send a direct message on Twitter and a direct message can only be sent to someone who you are following, and who is following you back.

The "shortcut" way is to write "d" + "username" and then your message e.g. "d SkunkMunchies Stop plugging yourself".

The second, longer, way to send a direct message (and also to view your direct messages) is to sign into your Twitter account, and click the "Direct Messages" button. This loads your direct messages inbox, where you can send and view direct messages. A dropdown menu tells you who you can send direct messages to.

If you already have a twitter accoutn set up, and you register your phone number, you are then able to send tweets from your phone. You send your tweets to 404-04 and your tweet is then posted.
