It took me forever to figure this out as well. It automatically loaded on my screen at start up.
I have Windows 2007, so I don't know if it's the same on all versions, but I'm sure they're similar.
Click on the Smartboard icon in the taskbar (the icons next to the time). Some options should pop up and one of them should be "Hide Floating Tools." That's it!
If you click on the double arrows of the toolbar at the top, you can easily drag it to the side of the screen.
you right click on the toolbar at the bottom or left,right side of the screen, then click properties, then auto hide task bar. it will hide the task bar.
The navigation is contained within the blue toolbar on the left hand side of the screen. You can also see all of the thousands of categories by clicking on Q&A Categories at the top of the screen.

If you want it gone temporarily just press F11. Then get it back by pressing F11 again. If you want it gone permanently press the gray X near the left side of the toolbar (not the big red X that closes the window (the big red X that's for windows).

To jump to a random question, go to the blue toolbar on the left side of the screen. Under the heading "Site tools," click on the link called "Random question" to take you to a surprise question.
Status bar.
you go on google and type in free smart notebook software. than click on the one that says smart downloads. than you will see the first icon. a light bue icon. the first one on the left side. click on the first sentence next to it. fill in your information. than prss like the next button or the enter boutton or whatever. so let it load. the rest of the things you will have to spend like 10 or 5 min. waiting for it to load. than it will be on your desktop enjoy. p.s i know this because i have it to.

No, its actually a bit on the older side compared to whats out hter right now. It doesn't have a touch screen or internet capabilities.
