Yes! Our swimming pool liner needed to be replaced, so we were late in opening our pool. Unknown to us were millions of tree frog eggs laid in the pool! Before we could drain the pool and replace the liner, a matter of a few weeks, we had apoximately 10,000 tadpoles and even froglets in our pool. We tried adding all sorts of strong chemicals to kill them (as to be frank - we did not wish for a plague of frogs on our property - but nothing killed them - which dumbfounded us. I've searched the internet in hopes of finding something to kill (sorry frog lovers) them as they return year-after-year to mate and lay their eggs again in OUR POOL! If you know of anything that will repet or deter frogs (I think they're white or gray tree frogs) from being attracted to our swimming pool - PLEASE let us know (dgrant6@triad.rr.com). They're back again this year! Our 3 grandsons happen to not be frog-lovers, and have refused to swim in our pool until we've stopped having to scoop out frogs and their bazillion eggs!

How do you kill a frog?

Although frogs in your pool are inconvenient, there is no health risk due to the pool chemicals. You just remove the drowned frogs. You should check your yard for standing water where the eggs can hatch and tadpoles mature. If you do not have this, then the frogs are migrating toward your pool for some reason. If you leave the lights on, that attracts bugs and the frogs come for the picnic. Clear out any weeds and debris in your yard. Some believe using ammonia based fertilizer is a deterrent. Also, a wooden or block fence will prevent frogs from coming into the area.

How do you kill midgie larvae in swimming pool?

I'm not sure, but to keep them from laying eggs in the water, put a long stick in the water. the mosquitos will lay their eggs on that, and you can take the stick and chuck it later.

Is it important from a health perspective to get rid of frogs who appear daily in your brominated swimming pool?

i HAVE NO IDEA WHAT A BROMINATED SWIMMING POOL IS I TAKE IT IT'S AN OUTDOOR POOL? IF HUMANS ARE USING THIS POOL TO SWIM IN YOU MUST GET RIG OF THE FROGS. YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT GERMS DISEASES THEY'RE CARRING, AND THEY WILL BE LAYING TADPOLES. ALL SORTS OF BUGS INSECTS ARE ALSO ASSOCIATED WITH FROGS. YOU SHOULD CHECK OUT YOR ENVIORNMENTAL CLEANSING DEPARTMENT WHO WILL ADVISE YOU. POSSIBLY DRAINING THE POOL SEALING IT FROM WATER WILL DETER THE FROGS IT'D GIVE YOU A GOOD CHANCE TO THOROUGHLY CLEANSE THE POOL, DISINFECT BLEACH, ETC. . . I HOPE THIS IS OF SOME HELP

How do you keep frogs from dying in your inground swimming pool?

You really can't. You can put a "skamper ramp" on your pool to help them get out but its hit or miss they'll see it. There is a an ingenious lightweight, net device called Critter Guard that provides a ladder for frogs and other animals to use to climb out of a pool. Visit the Critter Guard Web site at or at Critterguard.net for Purchases and additional information.

In your swimming pool you found tiny red worms on the bottom as you were cleaning your pool they are they harmful to children you have a above ground pool?

They are fly larvae and are gross, but harmless. Keep the pool clean and the chemistry correct. You can try running the chlorine a little towards the high end, but the flys that deposit the eggs (that turn into larvae) will contine to mistake your pool for a pond. Hey, at least you don't have frogs... ;-)

Is there a chemical to keep tree frogs out of pools?

No. That is what the pool cover is for - keep it on and nothing will fall into the water. Check the phosphate levels of your water. I had a pool party of frogs every time it rained. I found my phosphate level was high, adjusted accordingly and now they're gone!

Do parent frogs protect there eggs?

Most do not but there are some species of tree frog which do.

How do you attract gray tree frogs?

I think they to attract them is by having a kiddie pool in your backyard or in the woods they usually live in woods or in little ponds by the woods. If your using a kiddie pool like me i would dig a hole the size of the pool and put it in there then put pond water in it the reason why you have to dig a hole is because some frogs wont be able to get in there attracted a frog in there and its a green or bronze frog i caught it on July 27 2012 it was sitting on a rock half on half off like gray tree frogs laying there eggs but i don't know how green or bronze frogs mate or lay eggs i put it in my frog tank with 4 other fire belly toads for a other question someone asked can a frog or toad lay its eggs with no mate i answerd that one 2. Just be careful when you put water in your kiddie pool in the woods mosquitoes will go there and to attrack frogs to lay eggs put leaves in the pool and they will soon float to the bottom and tadpoles will eat them but do not put tap water in itl when you have tadpoles in it i killed all all the ones in it sadly on July 28. Sorry 4 any typos
