To get unlimited coins legitimately in Pokemon FireRed you will need to play the slot machines in the Celadon Game Corner to earn them. The only other method to get unlimited coins is to use a cheat device.
If you get two red sevens in a row, watch the easy to see blue R. Right before the R is the 3rd red 7. time it right and you'll win the jackpot. Save whenever you exceed prevous starting amount. If you lose allot of coins reset.
You could also buy coins if you have LOADS of money!:)
It's true that you might be able to time it right... But playing the game on a frame by frame speed via emulator proves that the third red 7 is often literally impossible to get. one frame gets a psyduck, and the very next frame lands a blue R... Just thought people should know this
To guy(s) above, don't waste your money, it's far too easy to get the jackpot. I'm in the process of saving for a polygon and I've turned 50 coins into 2000 in the last 20 mins (on a 300% speed emulator I might add), just chance it on a small amount and you're likely to get a jackpot before you've spent 50 coins so your coins will increase quite quickly.
bEAT THE ELITE FOUR, GO TO 5 ISLAND GO TO THE TOP LEFT CORNER (NEAR THE FISHERMAN) SURF, AND GO TO THEAT GORGEOUS RESORT. bATTLE THE FIRST LADY YOU SEE ON THE BIG ISLAND AND THE ON E NEAR SELPHY'S HOUSE. You can win coins in Goldenrod City's game parlor by playing Voltorb Flip.
In Voltorb Flip, you are given a 5x5 grid of cards. Each of the cards has either a 1, 2, 3 or a voltorb under it. Your goal is to find and flip all of the 2 and 3 squares without flipping any of the voltorb cards. For the first card you flip, you gain that many coins. Flipping a 1 gets you 1 coin, while a 2 gets you 2 coins and so on. After that, every card after that will multiply the amount of coins you would win in the end by the number on it. So if you flipped over a 2 card, netting you 2 coins, and then flipped over a 3 card, you would have 6 coins (2x3). A voltorb acts as a 0, so flipping one of them will end your game and force you to lose all the potential coins you had.
The strategy of Voltorb Flip comes from the hints the game gives you on the sides of the rows and columns. The game will tell you both how many voltorbs and the total number of points in a row, so you should use that information to figure out which rows are worth flipping cards in. For example, if you know that all of the rest of the cards in a row are either 1s or voltorbs, you shouldn't flip any of the cards in that row because even if you didn't get a voltorb, getting a 1 wouldn't help you get any closer to clearing the board.

That's just in the European and American versions. In the Japanese version, there are slot machines.
I would actually have preferred a slot machine to Voltorb Flip, because VF is more chance than skill. You can have two boxes in a VF game, each with an equal chance of having a bomb or a number... It's practically impossible to win every time.
A slot machine involves you working out at which symbol you see on it to press the button to get the symbol you want- a little bit harder than flipping tiles, but it feels more fun and dynamic.
Also, in this game they've removed the ability to buy coins for some reason I'll never understand- Now people who want all the Pokemon either have to get them from elsewhere [boring] or they have to play this absurd minigame.
Voltorb Flip can be quite fun though... If you have a solver thingie. I'd put up a link but i don't like promoting cheating... unless it's me cheating. :P
If you don't like playing the slots, the easiest way is to just buy the coins. That's expensive to do, though, so you can give one of your Pokemon an Amulet Coin, go west to Cycling Road, and rematch the trainers there for money.
You get coins whenever you battle someone, so I would recommend battling lots of people, so eventually you'll get lots of coins. I did this and I have over fourteen thousand coins. I would also recommend battling stronger opponents, that way you get more coins. Hope I helped! :)
