Yes a stroke can kill you. A stroke happens when there is a lack of blood flow to the brain. When there is no blood, there is no oxygen and the brain cells start to die, causing a stroke or death of brain tissue. Where in the brain the stroke happens and how long the brain goes without blood can make a difference as to how bad the stroke is.

A stroke is an attack on the brain. High blood pressure is a factor. When you have high blood pressure, the blood will slam against the insides of tour arteries, causing them to flake. If a flake breaks off, it can rush to your brain and hit your brain.

∙ 12y agoA stroke is an interruption to the blood flow which supplies the brain. If the blood flow to your brain is interrupted enough, your brain stem functions (breathing etc...) can cease, causing death. (Although people generally think of death to mean "heart stops beating", death also occurs when the person stops breathing, which is controlled by the brain, rather than the heart).
Also, a stroke may seriously damage other parts of the brain (not necessarily the stem). If enough of the other parts are damaged, the possibility of the person regaining consciousness becomes very small.
