Black smoke? Black smoke means its not getting enough air, usually happens while waiting for the turbo to spool up. Not really good.

thats not all entirely true black smoke is also a sign of power. Some ways that you can get your truck to smoke are to turn the star wheel on top of your injection pump towards the firewall, install larger injectors and so on and so forth your best bet is to start looking at some performance forums and i dont care what anyone says blowing smoke is cool if you can find a single fast diesel truck that doesnt blow any smoke i would love to see it

On the other hand, the shop I work at has a chassis dyno, and we hosted a charity dyno competition earlier this year. Funny thing - the 3 guys who made substantially more power than everyone else (4 figure numbers at the wheels) were the only ones that did NOT smoke. I'm not a diesel performance expert, but I do know that black smoke = unburned fuel, and I fail to see how fuel that is not burned can help power, as the power at the flywheel is purely a product of the energy released from burning the fuel.
buy a chip or programmer. straight pipe your exhaust.
buy a cummins
You need to buy a programmer to turn the pump up.
Remove the cat, add a cold air intake(afe stage 2 dry is good) add a smarty tuer and it will smoke.

If it's an older Cummins (any 5.9L model), the cheapest way is to just cut the muffler off up to the engine and run a straight pipe clear out the back. Then SCT Tune the truck and you'll be making great power and blowing plenty of that black smoke on the Prius at the stop light! If it's a newer 6.7L Cummins you will have to install a DPF Delete Kit. DPF stands for "diesel particulate filter." It catches all of the smoke and emissions that is coming from the engine. You install this pipe and the truck will be straight piped for blowing plenty of that black smoke!
Their injection pump is set too rich, and lets more diesel into the engine than the engine can burn. The partially/badly burned diesel is what comes out as black smoke.
# Why doe the gas furnace blow black smoke?
The pseudolink at the bottom will guide you to videos for this. youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+blow+smoke+rings
If you have natural straight hair then it will, but otherwise you'll have to blow dry it
burning oil = blue smoke
if you have a first gen (1989 to 1993) 12 valve cummins.turn the fuel screw one turn or more turns to create horspower and torqe and black smoke. but if you have a gen 2 a (1994-1998) then you have to move your fuel plate up.
