The Mech Walker needs two parts to make it work, and both require you to enter the Production Zone to the right of the island, across the bridge. The Mech motor is there on a conveyor belt in the Greenhouse, and the Mech crank is on a vine far above the Living Quarters way back at the left of the island -- you will need to go through the Living Quarters to reach it.
