The rear tailgate lock on my taurus wagon will not unlock. How do I open the back panel to get to the mechanism
While pulling on the handle as if to open the hatch, take a screw driver and pop the locking mechanism/latch to the open position. It should work no problem.
The left or right tailgate cable comes as an assembly that includes the left or right side tailgate latch.
WD-40
buy a manual lock out hub kit from an online source - not Kia made because they cost so much but you can find one online througha google search. The problem with 1996-2000 Kia's is that the vaccuum seal for the 4x4 lasts for only a minute - go to a lock out system and you will never have a problem again with 4x4
buy a new one
You don't fix it, you replace the door lock actuator.
If a 2000 Kia Sportage was run for two days without a gas cap, the problem might be with the fuel vacuum pressure sensor that is located directly above the gas tank. Running the car without the gas cap may have caused a vapor lock.
AnswerSounds like a factory alarm, it will happen if, for instance, you lock your car with your remote, but unlock it with your key. Try using your remote to lock and then unlock your car. If that doesn't work, unhook the negative terminal of your battery, as soon as you reconnect it, the alarm should go off again, lock and unlock it with your remote and that should fix it.
glue it with good glue from Menards
Fix the track
You could try looking at the wiring from the car body to the tailgate - more often than not the wire has broken with the opening and closing of the tailgate.
