If the clutch slave cylinder is located inside the bellhousing it's a Peugoet tranny or look underneath and if you see two long bleeder valves coming out of the tranny pointing up to the floor where the tranny connects to the engine then it's a Peugoet Read the model and serial # off the transmission and call a Chrysler dealer with this info. Only two transmissions were offered on the 1989 YJ, the crappy Peugeot and the Asian. If the transmission case is a split case and there are bolts on the top and bottom holding the cases together, then it is the Peugeot. If you do not see bolts on the top and bottom, then it is the Asian.
