You will need proof that you have left your last job, if you had one, and Identification papers (birth certificate / drivers license, passport). Then you will have to go to the local welfare offices and probably queue for a while, ask FIRST who you have to see regarding unemployment. Then give them your papers and sign with them for unemplyment. Not a pleasant task, but they're usually polite and understanding officers.

After filing out the unemployment claim form online or in the office, the unemployment office will call you to see what happened to your previous job (hoping that you did not quit). Most of the people say lay off and they will want to hear your side of the story. After you finish telling the story to the unemployment office what happened, he/she will want to know your previous place of employment and how long you work there. After that, he/she will call your previous supervisor/manager to see if what your story to your previous position actually happened. In order to get unemployment insurance both sides of the story has to match. If your supervisor told the unemployment office something different like I fired you because (whatever reason) then you will have to fight for it. If you did not get fired and your story match to your former supervisor then you will be able to collect.
