WHEN YOU LOOK THERE YOU SHOULD SEE A SMALL SWISH WHICH YOU CAN EITHER PUSH UP OR DOWN. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A STICKER MARKING THIS, SAYING UP OR DOWN LOCKS..IM NOT FOR SURE BUT BY PLAYING WITH IT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO TELL...THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FETURES OF A JEEP...MY GRAND DAUGHTER WHO IS 4 WAS SO MAD WHEN SHE FOUND HER DOOR DIDT WORK AND OPEN LIKE MOM AND DADS :>} There should be a little lever style switch right where the door latch mechanism is

To engage or disengage the Child-Protection Door
Lock system
1. Open the rear door.
2. Insert the tip of the emergency key into the lock and
rotate to the LOCK or UNLOCK position.
In case you are not sure where to get the emergency key:
To remove the emergency key, slide the mechanical latch
at the top of the Key Fob sideways with your thumb and
then pull the key out with your other hand.
In the fuse center located behind the passenger side kick panel for a 1997-2001 Jeep Sport you will find the fuse/circuit breaker for the power windows and power door locks located in position number 28.
Check for a broken wire in the harness going to the drivers door.
The only way i found to disarm the alarm was to use the back hatch lock. lock it and unlock it a few times with the key. if this doesnt work try the door locks
No Willow Doesnt Have Dread Locks
you have a cut wire in the drivers side door wiring, they get opened & closed so much that wires get cut, open the black boot in the door jam & you'll find your cut wire.
When you open the doors there is a lever on the door itself that you can switch up or down depending on if you want to engage or disengage the child safety locks. There should be a sticker indicating which way to lock-unlock.
Rear Door Child Safety Locks (Sedan and Wagon models only) Child safetly locks are located on the rear edge of each rear door. To activate the locks, you must insert your car key into the opening and turn to the locked "vertical" position. To disengage the child safety lock, insert your car key and turn to the center position.
On your 1997 Mercury Mountaineer : Open the rear doors from the outside and on the end of the doors near the latch you will see a small lever that is used to select child locks on or off
2009 CTS V Cadillacs do have child safety locks as well as other safety features. Though the child locks are the standard issue, most of their other features are more recent.
If your able to open door from outside. the child safety locks maybe on. If not on then door panel needs to come off to disengage from the inside.
