How do you disengage child lock on dodge vehicles?
Open the door, next to the door latch is a little slider. You use a key to slide the Child lock in the direction opposite where it is now.

Door Lock on a '79 Corvette I had this same problem on my '79. I found that it was the latch not getting out of the way so that the lock can move. I know this sounds strang…e, but sometimes the latch gets stuck part way through its motion and this will not let the locking device move. Cure: I sprayed lots of ether (or degreaser or carburetor cleaner), using that little red tube, into the latch unit. This rinses off the old sticky dirty dried out lube. Then I sprayed in a little lube like WD40. Next "flick" the outside handle a few times. Next use the key to move the lock back and forth. It took a couple of tries but the door works fine now. same m8 mine waz da same n i did wot u did n it work ed trust him
Just yesterday, the anti-theft alarm (intermittent horn blasts) onour Dodge Caravan was triggered. Don't know how, but assume it wasa system fault. Every time we tried to star…t the vehicle the hornwould blast away. Could not figure out how to stop it. We do nothave a remote key bob. Heck, we bought the van second hand, wedidn't even know the vehicle had an anti-theft system. What a wayto find out! If you call the Dealer, they'll likely tell you tobring the van in because they need to reset something in thecomputer control module. That's what they said when we called. Thefollowing WORKED for me, and didn't cost a cent. There is a smallfuse for the Horn, and a larger fuse for the Horn Relay. Removedthe Horn fuse, and of course the horn would no longer beep uponstarting the vehicle, but now all sorts of lights were flashing onand off -- and not just the headlights. So, removed the Horn Relayfuse as well (could hear it clicking). The lights stopped flashing. Then turned off the ignition, and replaced both the Horn fuse andthe Horn Relay fuse. Re-started the vehicle and everything was backto normal -- no intermittent horn blasts or lights flashing on andoff. Have had no re-occurrences of the problem, not yet anyway.
Answer . Remove the fuse under or near the dah board or under the hood! It could be in an enclosed fuse box!
Answer . OK ON MY 98 AND I BET YOURSWILL WORK THE SAME. OPEN THE PASSENGER DOOR (EITHER ONE) THEN LOOK ON THE SIDE OF THE DOOR THAT HITS THE JEEP WHEN IT WHEN CLOSING THE D…OOR. WHEN YOU LOOK THERE YOU SHOULD SEE A SMALL SWISH WHICH YOU CAN EITHER PUSH UP OR DOWN. THERE SHOULD ALSO BE A STICKER MARKING THIS, SAYING UP OR DOWN LOCKS..IM NOT FOR SURE BUT BY PLAYING WITH IT YOU'LL BE ABLE TO TELL...THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE FETURES OF A JEEP...MY GRAND DAUGHTER WHO IS 4 WAS SO MAD WHEN SHE FOUND HER DOOR DIDT WORK AND OPEN LIKE MOM AND DADS :>}. Answer . There should be a little lever style switch right where the door latch mechanism is
Make sure the door lock is set to the unlocked position, then pull on the door handle.
I also would like to know how this is done. I have a 1998 jimmy and a 1998 envoy and the envoy is fine and works normal. The jimmy on the other hand has that ever so annoying …auto lock feature engaged so that it will lock you out automatically if you start it and shut the drivers door too fast. Add to that the huge inconvenience of having to push the unlock button any time passengers are getting in, and if any one of them lifts the door handle too soon, then you have to push it again.. This is fine security for a dangerous city or something, but I live in a town where you leave your vehicle unlocked all the time and often with the keys in it and running. Heck, even the houses are often left unlocked even when not home.. I used to own a 1997 Grand Prix GTP that I was able to program, but this jimmy has me stumped. I have successfully programmed a new key Fob, but this other issue is beyond me.
When you open the doors there is a lever on the door itself that you can switch up or down depending on if you want to engage or disengage the child safety locks. There should… be a sticker indicating which way to lock-unlock.
Answer . Usually with a key from the outside or thumbolt from the inside.
there is a switch on the inside of the rear door above the latching mechanism. Just give it a flip
The easiest way, by far, is to unplug the fuse. If you still want them to work manually however, the BCM may be programmable on this model with the OE scantool (a Tech2). Chec…k with the dealer.
Open the door from the outside and look on the door near the latch mechanism. You will see what looks like a little stick poking out from a square hole. just click it one way …and the child lock is activated, the other way disengages it.
Use the hanger to snag the keys and pull them through the window crack
In VW Sharan
jack the car up and remove the fan unit then you can get your hand up to where the lock is located and you should be able to push the little catch on the left hand side of the… lock this will then open your bonnet i had to do this the other day
If you open each of the back doors from outside , there is a selector switch for the childproof locks on the end of each door about 3 inches from the latch
On your 1997 Mercury Mountaineer : Open the rear doors from the outside and on the end of the doors near the latch you will see a small lever that is used to select child lo…cks on or off
This is called hydroplaning. It happens when you are moving so fast over water that the water can't get out of the way fast enough for the tire to touch the road. The tire is …actually lifted off of the road and gliding on a film of water that is trying to move out of the way. Hydroplaning is dangerous, as it causes you to lose control of the vehicle.
Open the door and on the rim, you'll see the switch.
