As hard as it is, rise above it...take the high road and say nothing. Those who really know the good in you are your friends and may even be defending you as they "talk behind your back"! : ) A wise person will take it all in context of the divorce situation, and you will gain their respect by staying professional and on task with your work.

If they gossip, spread rumors, and spend their time talking about you behind your back they are neither good friends OR work colleagues. Keep your head down and work hard. Find friends outside of work who are supportive of you. Pay no mind to those who are not. Focus on the positive aspects of the new life ahead of you! Good luck!

No. If he chose to give your adult children money, then that was his decision and you are not obligated to reimburse him for any of it. And to take it a bit further, even if the children were still minor after the divorce and he chose to give them money, you would not be obligated to reimburse him for that, either. Child support money goes to the custodial parent for support of the children, not directly to the children.
